Project background

The proposal comprises a single Archimedes screw turbine, a turbine house building, trash screening, access improvements, an electrical substation and underground cabling.
The scheme is expected to generate a peak power output of 160 kW and an average annual energy production of 0.5 GWh.
This is sufficient to power 130 homes and provides an effective CO2e saving of around 260 tonnes per year.
The scheme in its current size and layout is optimal given the project constraints, including hydrology, environmental impact, land ownership and commercial viability.
