Project description
Project title
East Anglia ONE Operations and Maintenance for Generation Assets
Project background
In June 2014, a Development Consent Order (DCO) was granted for EA ONE under The Planning Act 2008, including two deemed Marine Licences (dMLs) for the marine licensable activities. In addition, East Anglia ONE Limited (EAOL) have completed a non-material change process as a result of the need to vary the DCO to include an alternative option for construction, allowing for the use of a High Voltage Alternating Current (HVAC) transmission system. The Secretary of State (SoS) confirmed the decision to make the non-material changes to the DCO and published the EA ONE Offshore Wind Farm (Corrections and Amendments) Order 2016 on the 24th March 2016. Onshore construction of the project started in May 2017 and offshore works commenced in February 2018
As part of the operation and maintenance phase of the project, EA ONE will continue work at the site undertaking a range of maintenance activities on the installed infrastructure, some of which will require a marine licence.
The application is supported by a Generation Assets Method Statement (EA1-CON-B-GBE-039779) which presents a comprehensive list of all likely Operation and maintenance activities to be undertaken at the EA ONE site associated with the generation assets, identifies which are licensable and provides detailed methodology of those activities to be included in the Generation Assets Operation and Maintenance Marine Licence application.
The Generation Assets MS should be read in conjunction with the Supporting Environmental Information document (EA1-CON-B-GBE-039781), which provides a combined assessment of the operation and maintenance activities described in the Generation Assets Method Statement. The Supporting Environmental Information document, in combination with the Generation Assets Method Statement provides the information required to support the Generation Assets O&M Marine Licence application.
Programme of works
The Operation and Maintenance of the Generation Assets will commence as soon as the construction is complete, and EA ONE wind farm has been commissioned. This is scheduled to happen on the 1st August 2019 which is when the O&M Marine Licence would come into force to enable any licenced activities to commence as required. EA ONE will be operational for approximately 25 years from this date (to May 2045).
Therefore, EAOL request that the operation and maintenance marine licence for the generation assets allows for work to commence on 1st August 2019 and complete by May 2045.
Further detail on the activities referred to above can be found in the attached Generation Assets Method Statement (EA1-CON-B-GBE-039779).
