Network Rail - Brantsy to Parton
Brantsy to Parton sea wall is a 1.65km long coastal defence located adjacent to the town of Whitehaven in Cumbria. The defence commences north of Whitehaven station and ends at Tanyard Bay, south of Parton station. The defence comprises of a masonry sea wall up to 8m in height, areas of masonry pitching and in places a concrete toe.

The repair works will be undertaken in two phases – Phase I and Phase II.
Phase I - An area of the existing concrete apron between Bransty and Parton that protects the sea wall has failed and has severe concrete loss, the proposed repair will be to fill the voids with air entrained rapid setting concrete and mastic sealant at the interface with the sea wall (detailed in Methodology for Phase I).

Phase II - Scope of works will consist of: site set up and demobilisation including access to compound, access to work area, installation of rock armour and installation of Tablet Markers (detailed in Methodology for Phase II).
A start date of 3rd September 2018 is anticipated for the Phase I, however may be delayed until March 2019 in order to work outside of the wintering season as that will reduce the effects on any wintering birds. All works will be undertaken between 22:00 and 06:00 hours and at low tide (Phase I). A start of Phase II works is expected within the next 3 years, most likely between 01.04.19 and 31.03.2020. Usual working times on site will be dictated by low tide we will work one 8 hour shift in any 24 hour period (Phase II). This application is for 5 years duration (from 03.09.2018 to 03.09.2013) and to include both phases of works.
