Victoria Place, Salcombe Emergency Manhole Repair
Pollution from the sea wall has been reported from South Hams Council, the local Harbour Master and the Environment agency stating that pollution is exiting the sea wall as the tide goes out. From site investigation today (06/07/15), it was confirmed that the adjacent manhole and associated sewers are experiencing infiltration which would result in exfiltration when the saline balancing is on. The saline balancing system in Salcombe balancing the sewage level compared to the tide to minimise infiltration and exfiltration. The Balancing was turned off when the pollution incident was first reported.
- CCTV and site inspection started today (06/07/15)
- Site Compound set up/public liaison
- RADAR survey/utility mapping due to start 09/07/15
- Remove bench and railing, both to be reinstated when works are complete
- Trail pits around manhole and key working areas
- Sewer lining where possible
- Realign sewer into manhole if possible, dig down and repair fractured joint if not.
- dig down and repair holes/fractures on lateral sewers
- Resin inject manhole if possible, if not dig down around manhole and take down part of the sea wall to allow safe repair of manhole, please note that this will only be undertake if absolutely necessary.
- Remove foreshore manholes and replace with pipe.


and part of the sea wall will need to be temporally taken down in the week starting 13/07/15.
Works are planned to be completed within 2 weeks with a planned finished date of 16/07/15 however please note these are reactive works and as such the complete scope of works may change.
