Project description
Project title
Hartopp Road Outfall Flap Valve Replacement
Project description
Pell Frischmann have been employed by South West Water to investigate saline infiltration in the public sewage network and sewage exfiltration into the surrounding environment. The project driver is to reduce saline infiltration into the combined sewerage system at Exmouth to create headroom for further development and climate change. It will also reduce total flows to the STW at Maer Lane and reduce the amount of saline needing to be balanced at the STW.
Part of this work is below MHWS and involves replacing the existing flap valve on the outfall at Hartopp Road that is silted up and broken to prevent tidal ingress into the combined system and help protect the low lying areas of Exmouth that have been witnessed to suffer from flooding at high tide.
Balfour Beatty are the principal contractor and they will be coordinating the replacement work
